To date, DPS has invested in a number of priority initiatives to increase student voice and leadership opportunities for high school student including the Student Board of Education (SBOE), Challenge 5280, Young African American & Latinx Leaders (YAALL) and other independent opportunities to exercise student voice and leadership.

The network includes eight school districts: Delsea, Logan, Lumberton, Kingsway, Haddonfield, GCIT, Collingswood, and Pittsgrove. Each district has a student equity group who engages in YPAR work to identify issues in their schools, design research questions, collect data, analyze that data, make policy recommendations, and work to implement and evaluate the impact of those recommendations.

South Jersey Student Voice Network

South Jersey Student Voice Network

In rural South Jersey, most school districts operate only one or two schools, and have joined together to do the work of supporting students voice initiatives to inform school policy and practices aimed at achieving educational equality. The network is entering its third year of work, with districts at various stages of implementation. Students from 4th grade to 12th grade are engaged in the student voice work.
